Judy with Parents

With my parents.

Judy Klass (hey there!) grew up in Leonia, New Jersey. A Truman Scholar, she has a BA. from Sarah Lawrence and a doctorate from Oxford.

Judy wrote and performed stand-up with the Sarah Lawrence Comedy Workshop and the Oxford Revue Workshop. Once back in the United States, she wrote and directed sketches and songs for the New York Hysterical Society and Lost Cat.

At age three.

Eighteen of her one-act plays and one of her full-length plays have been produced. Her unproduced full-length play STOP ME IF YOU'VE HEARD THIS ONE ... won the Dorothy Silver award in 2006. She co-wrote the Showtime cable film, The Time of The Butterflies, based on the novel by Julia Alvarez.

She has had musical gigs at CB Gallery and Bar 169 and repeated engagements performing a mix of stand-up and original songs at the The Village Gate. Her CD Brooklyn Cowgirl has had radio airplay in Europe and Down Under, especially. She has seven indie cuts on other people's CDs. In Nashville, she has been in writers rounds in the Hall of Fame Lounge and the French Quarter. And now she lives there!
